Overview
Aung Myint, born in 1946 in Myanmar, is a seminal figure in the Rangoon Modernist Art Movement. Since the early 1970s, he has developed a distinctive semi-abstract style characterized by spontaneity and a focus on dimension, line, and color. His work often revisits the motif of mother and child, a deeply personal subject due to the loss of his mother at a young age. Though academically trained in Psychology, Aung Myint is a self-taught artist whose practice also includes installation and performance art. His works are held in prestigious collections worldwide, including the Guggenheim Museum in New York, National Gallery Singapore, and Fukuoka Asian Art Museum. He continues to live and work in Myanmar, contributing significantly to the contemporary art scene.
