Cho Han YOO
Cho Han YOO is a South Korean artist whose work delves into the intersection of memory, emotion, and physicality. His artistic journey involves setting specific targets that sensitize his nerves, leading to observations and a metaphorical "hunt." The process of creating art becomes akin to hunting, where he grapples with memories and emotions, transforming them into tangible forms.
YOO's pieces often reinterpret symbolic shapes and acrylic forms, capturing the movement of objects and their significance. By assembling various sculptural elements, he constructs specific artifacts related to memory. His creative process allows him to focus inwardly, akin to a hunter's intense concentration. The resulting artworks serve as emotional representations of his continuous exploration of self, bridging past, present, and future.
YOO holds a master's degree in sculpture from Dong-A University's Graduate School and completed his undergraduate studies in sculpture at Dong-A University's College of Arts. His exhibitions span solo shows, group exhibitions, and projects, showcasing his unique perspective on memory, existence, and emotion. Notably, his work has been featured in galleries and cultural centers across South Korea, including the Hongti Art Village and Busan University Art Center.
